Paul Sculthorpe made his Great Britain debut during the 1996 Lions tour to New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. A versatile, tough and skillful player, he could be equally effective in the back row or at stand-off and was seemingly capable of winning a game on his own. His two-try man-of-the-match performance in the 1st Ashes Test in 2001 helped Great Britain claim a memorable win. He was also instrumental in the Lions reaching the 2004 Tri-Nations final. Whilst injuries curtailed his international appearances, Sculthorpe’s performances at the highest level contributed to his elevation to the RFL’s Hall of Fame.
