Andy Gregory

Andy Gregory was a combative scrum half for Great Britain in the 1980s and early 90s. An astute playmaker, he possessed an unerring ability to put his support runners into gaps, and seemingly rarely, if ever, got tackled in possession. Making his debut against France in 1982, Gregory revelled in role of midfield general, pulling the strings and dictating play. His finest moment in a Lions shirt came in the 3rd Test of the 1988 series against Australia. In a backs-to-the-wall performance, Gregory was named man-of-the-match, having a hand in several of the Lions’ tries as they defeated the Kangaroos 26-12.
