Clive Sullivan was renowned for being a trailblazing figure for Great Britain, recognised for his exceptional skills as a winger and his pioneering role in rugby league. Making his Lions debut in 1967, Sullivan quickly established himself as a prolific try-scorer on the international stage. In 1972 Sullivan was handed the Lions captaincy, becoming the first black captain for Great Britain in any sport. Sullivan’s crowning achievement came later that year in leading the Lions to become world champions, scoring an iconic length of the field try, and writing his name in to the game’s history books in the process.
