Raymond Contrastin was a talented and versatile back who represented France with distinction in the 1940s and 1950s. His thrilling running ability and evasive skills epitomised the free-flowing open style of rugby league played by the French team throughout the decade. Contrastin played a starring role in France’s 1951 tour of Australia, bagging a brace of tries in the third test to help them clinch the series win. He scored a record 25 tries during his international career, and joined a select band of players who have scored 2 tries in a game against each of Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand.
