Henderson Gill was a dynamic and crowd-pleasing player for Great Britain, with 15 appearances for the Lions during the 1980s. The power-packed winger always played the game with his trademark smile, making him a firm fans’ favourite. His finest hour in a Lions shirt came in the shock victory over the Kangaroos in the third Ashes Test of 1988 at the Sydney Football Stadium. Backing up a break, Gill showed exceptional pace to round Australian fullback Garry Jack to score a spectacular try in the corner. His resulting celebration where he did “a bit of a boogie” has become one of the most iconic Lions moments of all time.
