Johnny Whiteley

Johnny Whiteley made his debut for Hull FC in 1950, starting his life-long association with the club. As a super-fit back row forward, he quickly established himself as a cornerstone of what was already a dominant and feared pack. Tough, skillful and with great leadership skills, Whiteley made a total of 417 appearances over 15 seasons with the Airlie Birds, and was never dropped. His contributions were integral to Hull’s Championship-winning seasons in 1956 and 1958, and Whiteley is rightly remembered as one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous black and white irregular hoops.
