Gus Risman

Gus Risman was a towering figure in Salford’s history, joining the club in 1929 and quickly establishing himself as one of rugby league’s greatest talents. A versatile player, Risman excelled as a three-quarter, fullback and stand-off, and was known for his incisive running, sharp footballing brain, and exceptional goal-kicking. During his time with Salford, he played a key role in the club’s golden era of the 1930s, leading them to multiple trophies, including the Challenge Cup victory in 1938, and Championship titles in 1933, 1937 and 1939. Risman was inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame in 1988.
