Tom van Vollenhoven

Tom van Vollenhoven was a sensational winger for St Helens, playing between 1957 and 1968. The South African speedster became one of the most iconic players in the club’s history, known for his blistering pace, agility, and incredible try-scoring ability. In 409 appearances, he scored a remarkable 392 tries, a club record that still stands. Van Vollenhoven played a key role in St Helens’ success, helping them win two Challenge Cups (including a spectacular solo try in the 1961 final) and a league title. His dazzling runs and try-scoring feats made him a legend, and he remains one of rugby league’s greatest wingers.
