Dean Sampson

Dean Sampson made his first team debut for Castleford in 1987, going on to become a cornerstone of the club’s pack for over 15 years. Son of former Castleford player and coach Dave Sampson, Dean was a big, strong-running prop forward whose performances earned him England and Great Britain honours. In addition to Challenge Cup and Yorkshire Cup final appearances, Sampson came off the bench in Castleford’s famous 33–2 victory over Wigan in the 1994 Regal Trophy Final. After 431 games for the club, he finished his career joint second on Castleford’s all-time appearance list.
