Vince Karalius

Vince Karalius joined Widnes in 1962, and was immediately appointed club captain. The tough, no-nonsense loose forward made an instant impact with his dominant presence in the pack, helping his hometown team achieve an equal best ever finish of third in the Championship. Karalius was known for his work ethic, resilience and leadership, contributing significantly to the team’s 13-5 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers in the 1964 Challenge Cup final at Wembley. Karalius’ robust performances and commitment on the field earned him a place in the Widnes Rugby League Hall of Fame, and he remains celebrated as one of the club’s most influential players from that era.
