Steve Norton

Steve ‘Knocker’ Norton was a tough and creative loose forward for Hull FC. Joining the club in 1978 from Castleford, Norton quickly became a key figure in the Airlie Birds’ success during the late 1970s and 1980s. He was renowned for his sharp footballing brain and great ball-handling skills, including his trademark round-the-corner pass that unlocked many defences. He was integral to Hull’s 1982 Challenge Cup win and their league Championship title in the following season. Norton’s reputation as one of the club’s greats was secured when he was one of the inaugural inductees to the Hull FC Hall of Fame in 1992.
