Shaun Edwards is synonymous with Wigan’s dominance in the late 1980s and early 1990s, establishing himself as one of rugby league’s most influential players. Edwards signed for Wigan as a 17 year-old in 1983, and quickly became a key figure in the team, known for his astute game management, fierce competitiveness, and ability to turn a match with a moment of brilliance. Playing primarily at scrum-half, he led Wigan to an unprecedented era of success, including eight consecutive Challenge Cup victories from 1988 to 1995. Over the course of his 466 game Wigan career, Edwards became the most decorated rugby league player of all time, with 37 winners medals to his name.
