Roger Millward

Roger Millward was a legendary figure for Hull KR, renowned for his exceptional skill and leadership as a stand-off and goal kicker. Joining the club in 1966 from Castleford for £6,000, he quickly established himself as a pivotal figure for the team. A livewire stand-off with exceptional acceleration and footwork, Millward was nicknamed ‘Roger the Dodger’ for his elusive running. His influence was pivotal in Hull KR’s success of the late 1970s and early 1980s, including winning the First Division Championship title in 1979, and their historic 1980 Challenge Cup victory where they triumphed 10-5 over city rivals Hull FC. Millward was honoured by the Queen with an MBE in 1983.
