Phil Lowe

Phil Lowe was a powerful wide-running second row forward for Hull KR, renowned for his long-striding attacking style. Joining the club in 1967, Lowe quickly established himself as a key member of Hull KR’s pack, and was voted ‘Player of the Season’ in both 1968–69 and 1972–73. His 26 tries in the 1972–73 season was a club record for a Hull KR forward. After a spell playing in Australia for Manly-Warringah, he returned to Hull KR in 1977, and was instrumental in the club’s First Division Championship title success in 1979, and their 10-5 victory over local rivals Hull FC in the 1980 Challenge Cup final at Wembley. Lowe’s formidable presence and try-scoring prowess made him a club legend.
