Peter Flanagan

Peter ‘Flash’ Flanagan was a key figure for Hull KR during the 1960s and early 70s, known for his toughness and skill as a hooker. Joining the club in 1960, He possessed a deceptive sidestep and great speed off the mark, along with an eye for a gap that made him a nightmare for opposition defences. Flanagan’s “Flash” nickname was derived from his crowd-pleasing playing style, coupled with his larger-than-life persona – complete with quiff, sideburns and frequent Elvis Presley impressions. This made him a firm favourite with the fans on the terraces. His popularity and respect amongst the club’s supporters was evident when he was voted as hooker in the club’s “Greatest Ever Hull KR 13”.
