Martin Offiah

Martin Offiah signed for Widnes from Rosslyn Park rugby union in 1987. He quickly made the left wing spot his own, becoming known for his electrifying speed and try-scoring ability. Offiah quickly became a star of the game with his spectacular try-scoring exploits and his showmanship. He was instrumental in Widnes’ dominant period in the late 1980s, helping the club win back-to-back Championship titles, and claim victory in the 1989 World Club Challenge against the star-studded Canberra Raiders. During his four seasons at the club, Offiah scored an incredible 181 tries in 145 games, and won the prestigious Man of Steel award, establishing himself as one of the sport’s greatest wingers.
