Lewis Jones became one of the most celebrated players in Leeds’ history, after joining the club from Welsh rugby union in 1952. Over the next decade, he became the linchpin of the Leeds side, renowned for his exceptional goal-kicking, elusive running, and ability to control the game from stand-off. Jones played a pivotal role to help Leeds win their first Championship title, scoring a try and kicking five goals as they defeated Warrington in the 1961 play-off final. By the time he retired in 1964, Jones had amassed over 2,900 points – a club record at the time – cementing his legacy as one of Leeds’ all-time greats.
