Kurt Sorensen

Kurt Sorensen joined Widnes in 1985 and quickly became a cornerstone of the team’s dominant forward pack. A powerful and uncompromising prop forward from Mount Wellington in New Zealand, Sorensen was known for his rugged defense and strong running. His significant impact on the team helped Widnes to several honours in the late 80s/early 90s, including consecutive league titles in 1988 and 1989. He also led the club to a memorable World Club Championship victory over Canberra Raiders at Old Trafford in 1989. Sorensen’s hard-nosed style of play and commitment on the field earned him immense respect, making him one of the most revered players in Widnes’ history.
