Kevin Ward started his playing career as a centre, before gravitating to the pack and transforming in to one of the most feared props in the British game. After making his debut in 1978, he went on to play in multiple Yorkshire Cup finals, including victories over Bradford Northern in 1981 and Hull FC in 1986. Arguably Ward’s biggest career highlight for Castleford was the 15-14 Challenge Cup final victory over Hull Kingston Rovers at Wembley in 1986. In addition to his barn-storming running, he was renowned for wearing unfeasibly small shorts. Ward is a member of the Castleford Tigers Hall of Fame.
