John Bevan

John Bevan joined Warrington in 1973 from Welsh rugby union, making an instant impact on the wing with his speed and strength. Nicknamed ‘the ox’ due to his powerful running, Bevan also possessed searing pace along with a devastating swerve and sidestep. He enjoyed immediate success, winning the Player’s No.6 Trophy and the Challenge Cup in his first season. Bevan would go on to make over 300 appearances for Warrington over the course of 13 seasons, becoming a hero for the fans on the terraces thanks to his try-scoring prowess and his trademark arm raising scoring celebration.
