George Fairbairn

George Fairbairn was a standout fullback for Hull KR, known for his reliable goal-kicking and strong defensive play. Joining the club in 1981 for a record fee of £72,500, Fairbairn was integral in helping KR become one of the leading clubs in the British game. His contributions were vital during one of Hull KR’s most successful periods, including helping the club to the 1984 and 1985 First Division Championship titles, as well as the 1984 Premiership trophy and the 1985 John Player Trophy. Over his career at Hull KR, he made 269 appearances, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the club’s finest fullbacks as evidenced from his selection by the supporters for the club’s “Greatest Ever Hull KR 13”.
