Schofield was renowned for his ability to read the game and his knack of scoring interception tries – a skill that saw him nicknamed ‘The Poacher’. He played a pivotal role in Leeds’ 1988 Yorkshire Cup victory, scoring a brace of tries as the Loiners defeated Castleford 33-12.
