David Topliss

David Topliss made his first team debut for Wakefield Trinity as a 19 year-old in 1968 – the first appearance of a thirteen-year stint with the club. A scintillating attacking stand-off, Topliss was a prolific scorer as well as a creator of tries, and his abilities saw him gain international honours. Despite appearing in multiple finals for the club, he was never fortunate enough to be on the winning side. His dominant performance in the 1979 Challenge Cup Final earned him the Lance Todd Trophy as man-of-the-match, despite finishing on the losing side in a 12-3 defeat at the hands of Widnes.
