Jonty Parkin joined Wakefield Trinity as an 18 year-old in 1913, making an immediate impact for the team. He played stand-off in the club’s 1913-14 Challenge Cup final defeat to Hull FC before eventually settling in to the scrum half role. Parkin’s ability to read the game made him one of the rugby league’s most influential players, and saw him become one of the biggest stars of the game in the early part of the twentieth century. Despite his only major trophy success being a Yorkshire Cup win in 1925, he went on to captain both England and Great Britain, and was inducted in to the RFL Hall of Fame in 1988.
